This work is part of the Respiratory Health Improvement Project (RHIP), funded in part by the Port of Long Beach, and built on one idea: care should come to the neighborhood, not the other way around.

The Respiratory Health Improvement Project, or RHIP, is a community health initiative funded in part by the Port of Long Beach and operated by Pools of Hope. It was created to help North Long Beach families understand asthma, recognize the things that trigger it, and get screened without cost, distance, or a doctor's referral standing in the way.
Long Beach families live alongside freeways, rail lines, and port traffic. Many know someone who wheezes at night or keeps an inhaler in a kitchen drawer. RHIP exists to turn that quiet, everyday reality into something families can name, understand, and manage.
